About Me

If you’re reading this, welcome to my little corner of the internet! I’m Mac and I’ve been globe trotting on and off since my first foray into international travel in 2008. Since then, I’ve traveled, worked, studied, and taught in over 20 countries – making mistakes and learning important lessons along the way.

At a distance, a white woman stands at the top of a stone arch in front of a distant dessert landscape of green trees and red plateaus.

When I was younger, I was certain I would end up being a writer or publisher. I loved the written word and language so much that I even earned double Bachelor’s degrees in English and Linguistics! But once I studied abroad in the spring of 2014, my career path changed. While I’m still passionate about language, I shifted my focus to international education. I took a break from school to (ironically) teach English in France with the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF) for a year before pursuing and earning a Master’s degree in International Education Management.

I’ve spent my professional career advising students (and friends and family alike) on tips and best practices for traveling abroad. I approach travel from a holistic lens and apply that on all travel types: long-term, short-term, academic, holiday, and so on. I know how easy it is to travel and come back still feeling like you missed something.

For now, I’ve started my first open ended and barely planned trip with the hopes of sharing my experience and tips along the way. Even though this journey has just begun, I have traveled and worked in international education for over a decade now.

Come along for the ride and learn something new while laughing along to my highlights and lowlights of travel!
