BC & Alberta, Part 2: The Vancouver Aquarium

Our second day in Vancouver saw us actually making plans for the day’s activities, and this day was to be filled with jellyfish, sharks, sea otters and beluga at the Vancouver Aquarium.

We were pretty excited about our visit to VanAqua. Shannon is obsessed with sharks and I’ve been dying to see beluga since I was a kid, so it was a two-for-one deal for us. We spent a few hours walking around like wide-eyed kids, and despite the rain that was falling, we had a damned good time seeing all the animals and exhibits.

What visit wouldn’t be complete with going to the gift shop for souvenirs? Shannon and I did just that and found these awesome hats. We did our best “Blue Steel” and took some more silly selfies.

Left: an orca and a jellyfish. Right: a dolphin and a penguin. Both: two silly girls.

We capped off our day at the aquarium by getting stuffed on sushi at my favourite sushi restaurant in Vancouver, Umeda on Granville. We waddled back to the hostel after dinner and had an early night because the following day was going to see us continue our marine animal theme. We were going whale watching!
